A Perfect Fit -- Moi-Même AttireEveryone has heard the phrase "dress for success" over and over again. However, it's not always so easy, especially if you don't have the perfect body or a fat wallet.Now there's Moi-Même Attire. Launched last year by Dawn Verbrigghe, Moi-Même is the answer for professional women who need, but can't find, a perfectly fitting suit. At Moi-Même, you can have jackets, pants, skirts and dresses tailor-made to your measurements but without the sky-high prices. Unable to find a suit that fit properly, Dawn took it upon herself to come up with a solution. While at a Barney's Warehouse Sale with a friend, Dawn noticed that men's pants were sold unhemmed and thought it would be great for women as well. From that came the idea for Moi-Même. With a degree in graphic design and an MBA, Dawn set out to learn as much as she could about the apparel industry. "You need to know a little bit about something to know that you can't do something," she says. Approaching whoever she could in the industry, Dawn gleaned as much information as she could. "I went everywhere and bought everyone coffee and took it all in," explains Dawn. After two years of research, which included flying to Vietnam to interview tailors, she was ready to open Moi-Même Attire. 
An appointment at Moi-Même's showroom includes a style consultation to help you select the most flattering designs and fabrics. Currently Moi-Même only carries suit separates, dresses and trench coats. "We limit the styles so that we can guarantee quality and consistency," explains Dawn. Shirts and business casual attire will eventually be added.
After the pieces are selected, twenty body measurements are taken, size samples are tried and pinned to fit, and photos are taken for reference. The entire appointment takes approximately one hour. All the information is then sent to Moi-Même's tailors. Your measurements are kept on file and you need only call in whenever you need another jacket or pair of pants. In about four weeks, your pieces arrive. If nothing more than hemming is needed, you can walk out with your suit that day. If alterations are needed, it may take another week. While it may seem like a long time in this world of instant gratification, being able to walk out with a perfectly fitting jacket, skirt and pair of pants for the price of an off-the-rack suit is well worth the wait. This can be attested to by Moi-Même's ever increasing client list and the plans to expand the Moi-Même showrooms to other cities. |
