PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Dear Jade,

I'm about to get married in a couple of months to a very nice man. However, lately I've been attracted to another guy at the gym. I don't know him but I find myself thinking about him more that my fiancé. They look nothing alike and, from what I gathered, they are nothing alike. Should I go forward with my wedding or give it another year or so until I'm sure?

Unsure

HE SAID:

People by nature are programmed to seek out the best mate possible for the purpose of procreation or companionship. Getting married is a big commitment, as well as expensive. While some bypass the ritualistic expression of a high budget wedding ceremony, there are still a lot of couples out there looking to spend a sum equal to a down-payment for a house. If you are having second thoughts, stop and call the wedding off. There is still time to recoup some losses.

You have some serious soul searching to do, regardless of what you decide.

May I interest you in an all women’s gym?

SHE SAID:

Well, is the guy at the gym your eye candy or is it more? I mean do you actually want to get to know him or is he just someone you like to look at? If you are still not sure, perhaps you should postpone your wedding and take sometime to explore. Because once you are married, it's hard to break it off. Even when you are married you will find yourself be attracted to other guys, and that's normal. Again an eye candy is acceptable, but if you act on it, well, that's another story.

BUT MAMA SAID:

It looks like you are getting cold feet. I think that is normal as marriage is a big step. What you need to do is think long and hard about what it is you are looking for in a life partner. Then see how many of those things your fiancé fulfills and how much you think this unknown gym guy does. There's nothing wrong with having doubts and projecting a more exciting story onto someone else but really think about what you are going to be giving up.
