About Us

JADE Magazine is all about giving English-speaking Asian women a place to share their stories, challenge stereotypes, and talk about what matters to us. We named ourselves after jade, the gemstone that represents charity, courage, justice, and wisdom, because Asian women are smart, opinionated, ambitious women who want real substance.

We started back in 1998 when Ellen Hwang and Audrey Panichakoon Crone noted that there was basically nothing specifically out there that highlighted our accomplishments. So they created JADE to fill that gap.

We’re a digital magazine with a virtual team, which means we can work with amazing writers and contributors from everywhere. We don’t just talk at our readers, we listen and create the content you want to see. Over the years, JADE has grown into magazine that celebrates our unique experiences while empowering who we are as Asian women.
